You may know the Avocado green mattress, but we’re here with a hot off the presses review on the latest mattress from Avocado. That’s right, environmentally friendly and organic mattress giant Avocado has come out with a new bed – the Avocado Eco Organic Mattress.
You should expect all the same from Avocado – hypoallergenic properties, quality materials that were sustainably sourced, and no toxic chemicals. The difference is the Eco Organic mattress is Avocado’s most affordable mattress. And it’s available for both kids and cribs beds as well.
Avocado Eco Organic Mattress Firmness and Feel
How firm is the Avocado Eco Organic bed?
Like the standard Avocado mattress, we think the Eco Organic mattress falls around a medium-firm to a firm on our scale. Unlike the Avocado Green bed, you don’t have the option to add a pillowtop. So what you see is what you get.

This bed definitely sways on the firmer side, so back sleepers or people with back pain will be right at home. There are softer mattresses out there, so if you’re looking for a plush bed with lots of layers to sink into, the Eco Organic might not be your dream bed.
How does the Avocado bed feel?
If you’ve laid on an Avocado bed before, then you will know how the Eco Organic bed feels. It has a standard latex foam feel that’s spongy and bouncy. When you lay on it, you can feel the support of the pocketed coil layer, and the 2” layer of latex foam gives you plenty of comfort.
Again, it isn’t going to give you the slow, sinking-in feeling you’ll get with traditional memory foam mattresses like Tempurpedic. You should expect more of a traditional innerspring bed feel, similar to the Avocado Green mattress.
Avocado Eco Organic Mattress Construction
In terms of construction, you should expect all the same eco-friendly benefits you get from Avocado. All the latex and wool are sustainably sourced from Avocado’s farms, and the coils are recycled steel. The bed sports some pretty important certifications like GOTS materials, MADE SAFE®, Greenguard Gold, FSC®, eco-INSTITUT®, and more.
So let’s get down to what’s actually in the bed. The Eco Organic bed from Avocado is 10-inches total. You won’t have the option for a pillow top here, but we don’t think that’s a make it or break it factor for most people.
- Recycled steel coil base: The base layer of the Eco Organic bed is 8” of pocketed coils that are double tempered to improved durability.
- Comfort layer: This latex foam layer is comprised of 2” GOLS-certified Dunlop latex. This is where the comfort comes from.
- Cover: Made with organic cotton and 1” wool, the quilted cover of the Eco Organic bed has a lightweight, GOTS organic canvas bottom.
Avocado Review Sleeper Analysis
We know all bodies are different, and not every bed is right for you. We thought we would put it in terms you can connect to –– what position do you sleep in at night? Surprisingly, the position you sleep in is one of the most important factors to consider when you’re shopping for a mattress.

Avocado Body Type Analysis
Do you know what else matters when you’re shopping for a mattress? Your body type. That’s right folks; unfortunately, how much you weigh will play a part in which bed you should choose. But why? It’s all about how much pressure you put on the mattress. For the sake of this review, we define an “average body type” as 150 – 250 lbs.
How Much Is The Avocado Mattress?
Most organic or vegan mattresses aren’t cheap. There’s no sugar coating it; they’re a big investment that rules them out for many people. That’s why we are excited about Avocado’s Eco Organic mattress. It’s really affordable; you can snag a queen mattress under $1,000. That’s almost unheard of in the organic mattress space.

Avocado Eco Organic Mattress Performance
Pressure relief
You’ll get pressure relief with the Avocado Eco Organic bed, just don’t expect a cloud. It is by no means a soft bed. That said, the 2” organic latex layer will make sure you are comfortable and don’t develop pressure points. You just might not get all the pressure relief you could get from a softer mattress. It all comes down to your preference for firmness.
Temperature regulation
A lot of mattresses out there boast special temperature cooling features that promise to keep you cool during the night. To be honest, most beds don’t really live up to the hype. The Eco Organic mattress does. Given its firmness and materials, we think this bed will sleep on the cooler. Latex foam’s open-cell structure keeps it from trapping heat, and the pocketed coils promote airflow.
We wouldn’t consider it an active cooling mattress, but it will certainly sleep cooler than a memory foam bed, for example.
Durability
We like Avocado mattresses for their durability. They are just well-made mattresses with high-quality materials like double-tempered coils. Hybrid mattresses tend to be more durable and more supportive than memory foam mattresses. Particularly for heavier folks, we always recommend going with a hybrid bed.
Edge support
Edge support is one of those things you might not think about but are actually really important. So what is edge support? It’s pretty simple; it’s essentially how solid the bed is around the edge of the bed. Why does this matter? Well, for everyone, it might not. But if you share the bed with someone else and need access to the entire sleeping surface, then you need the edges to hold up. The last thing you want is to roll off the bed at night.
[Read: What Is Edge Support?]
Avocado has strong support around the edges of the bed. As you can see in the picture below, when our team member JD lays on the edge of the bed, it doesn’t fold under his weight.
Motion isolation and noise
Latex foam is super spongy and spongy, which means it absorbs motion pretty well across the mattress. We rate motion isolation for Avocado’s Eco Organic mattress about an average. It’s not great, but not bad.
Motion isolation is pretty important if you have a partner who tosses and turns at night. While this bed isn’t the best in motion isolation we’ve ever seen, we don’t think it’s a concern. In terms of edge support and motion isolation, we think the Eco Organic mattress from Avocado is a good mattress for couples.
Other Avocado Mattresses
Avocado Green mattress vs. Avocado Eco Organic mattress
The Eco Organic mattress is similar to the Avocado Green mattress in several ways. They are both hybrid beds with zoned comfort and are GOLS Certified Organic. However, there are some key differences; there is no pillow top with the Eco Organic bed, so what you see is what you get. It’s also significantly more affordable than the Avocado Green mattress.
Avocado Company Policies
Most of Avocado’s company policies are pretty standard. You get free shipping with every mattress and free returns if you decide to send it back. You’ll have a 25-year warranty on your mattress, which is on the longer side of most policies which are in the 10- to 15-year range.
What’s different about Avocado’s company policies is you get a one-year trial with your mattress. That’s a long time to have with your mattresses to decide if Avocado is the right mattress for you. Most companies offer around three months for a trial period.
Avocado Eco Organic Mattress Verdict
There’s a lot to love about the Eco Organic Mattress. It’s a comfortable, firm mattress that’s great for sleepers with back pain. Where we see the biggest benefit of this mattress is the price.
