Sweetnight Mattress Review
SweetNight is one of the handful of brands in the online mattress industry who manufacture and ship from their own factories, so they’re able to delivery quality mattresses at a lower price than other comparable beds on the market. In this review, you’ll learn about two of their beds, Breeze (the entry-level mattress) and Twilight (their thicker hybrid mattress), and who they might be appealing to.
Below, you can check out everything JD has to say about the Sweetnight mattresses, and what our team thought about them during testing!
Honest Sweetnight Mattress Video Review
Otherwise, continue on for the major highlights on the Sweetnight Breeze and Sweetnight Twilight mattresses.
SweetNight Breeze Pricing & Discounts
The SweetNight Breeze is considered a budget-tier mattress. It’s a few hundred dollars cheaper than the likes of Puffy, Casper and Leesa. MSRP for the Breeze ranges from around $300 for a twin size to $600 for a king size.
Plus, the company will sometimes often coupon codes to make their beds even more affordable. Check the green discount box on your screen for current promotions.
SweetNight Breeze Thickness Options
One unique aspect about the SweetNight mattress is that it comes in multiple thickness options. For the full and queen size mattresses, consumers have their choice between 8”, 10” or 12” models. For the king size, shoppers can choose between 10” and 12” models.
There’s really not a huge difference between the various models at the end of the day. Really, the support layers are just a little thicker on the 10” and 12” models. Some people just prefer slightly thicker beds, whether for aesthetic or support purposes. Keep in mind, the price of the bed does go up as the thickness increases
Design Of This SweetNight Mattress
The Sweetnight Breeze mattress has a straightforward design. The bed is comprised of three different layers. Here is a quick summary of each layer starting from the bottom.
- High-Density Support Foam – serves as the foundation for the bed.
- AirFlow Foam – acts as a soft, breathable transition layer in the mattress.
- Gel-Infused Memory Foam – forms the true comfort layer for the bed.
Encasing the three layers of foam is a gray-checkered rayon cotton cover that is dust-mite resistant.
SweetNight Breeze Feel & Firmness Analysis
Although the top layer of the bed is comprised of gel-infused memory foam, we wouldn’t put the Breeze mattress in the same category as other popular memory foam mattresses online like Nectar or Layla.
That’s because we think the bed has more of a mixed or neutral-foam feel. In other words, we think the conforming sensation of the top layers is not as distinct as you would expect. As you lay down, you can feel the top layer somewhat contour to the shape of your body, however, it doesn’t really hug you like memory foam is known to do.
This isn’t a negative mark by the way. There’s nothing wrong with beds that have a neutral-foam feel. In fact, some consumers actually prefer this type of feel over traditional memory foam. It really just depends on what YOU personally like.
In terms of firmness, we think the Breeze mattress lands somewhere near the middle of the firmness scale. The bed is not extra firm or remarkably soft.
Keep in mind, firmness is a subjective topic. Your body size and weight play a major role in how you perceive a mattress to feel. We discuss this subject in more detail later in the review.
Breeze Mattress Ideal Sleeping Positions
In our opinion, the SweetNight Breeze mattress is a viable option for all types of sleepers. The top layer of gel memory foam provides an ample amount of pressure relief for side sleepers, yet the mattress overall is still supportive enough for back and stomach sleepers.
Besides being universally accommodating, what’s also nice about the Breeze mattress is that sleepers don’t encounter much resistance when attempting to switch between positions despite its part-memory foam construction.
That means combination sleepers who rotate positions frequently throughout the night won’t have an issue with this bed.
Verdict: SweetNight Breeze Review
The SweetNight Breeze isn’t flashy and won’t wow with the bells and whistles that other online mattresses boast, but if you’re looking for a comfortable foam bed that won’t break the bank, then it’s definitely worthy of your consideration.
Pricing For SweetNight Twilight
Like the Breeze, the SweetNight Twilight is also considered a budget bed. The MSRP of the mattress ranges from around $400 for a full to $600 for a king.
However, as we mentioned above, SweetNight does run special sales from time to time. In some cases you can get an extra 5-10% off the Twilight mattress. Check the green discount box on screen for current pricing and promotions.
Size Availability & Thickness Options
For some reason, the Twilight mattress is not available to purchase in twin or twin XL sizes (sorry kids and teenagers). The bed only comes in full, queen and king sizes, of which consumers can choose between 10” and 12” models.
A Look Inside The SweetNight Twilight
The SweetNight Twilight is a hybrid mattress that is made up of five different layers. Below is a brief summary of each layer starting from the bottom.
- Individually-Wrapped Pocketed Coils – the primary support structure of the mattress.
- High-Density Foam – layer that provides additional support near foundation.
- AirFlow Foam – three zone layer that acts as a transition in the bed.
- Ventilated Comfort Foam – soft, pressure relieving layer near surface of mattress.
- Gel-Infused Memory Foam – the proper comfort layer of the bed.
Wrapping the various layers is a knitted fabric cover. From what we can tell, the cover is not machine washable. This is nothing new in the online mattress industry. We’ve only tested a few beds that actually have covers that are both removable and machine washable. All this means is that if your Twilight mattress happens to get dirty, you’ll just have to spot clean the dirty area with a mild detergent and water.
What The SweetNight Twilight Feels Like
Like the Breeze mattress, the SweetNight Twilight does not have a traditional memory foam feel. Instead, the bed has more what we consider to be a mixed or neutral-foam feel. However, as you will find out below, the Twilight is slightly firmer than the Breeze.
Twilight Firmness Rating
Overall, we think the Twilight mattress lands somewhere around medium-firm on our scale.
Again, keep in mind, our medium-firm rating should solely be used as a starting point. If you’re smaller in stature, the bed will likely feel firmer. Likewise, if you’re larger in stature, the bed will likely feel a bit softer.
Given the firmer nature of the bed, we think the Twilight mattress is best suited for back and stomach sleepers. The mattress provides ample support for sleepers in these positions.
As far as side sleepers go, we do not believe the Twilight mattress is an ideal choice. Although the top layer of the mattress is comprised of memory foam, we just wish the bed provided a bit more pressure relief. In most cases, side sleepers prefer softer mattresses that are a little more delicate around their hips and shoulders.
Verdict: SweetNight Twilight Review
Similar to the Breeze, the Twilight is not the most advanced mattress you’ll ever come across, but that’s not the point. The Twilight is all about value. Bottom line – if you’re working with a limited budget, you want/need a hybrid bed and you primarily sleep on your back or stomach, then we’d recommend you consider the Twilight mattress.
The SweetNight Sunkiss
The SweetNight Sunkiss is a double-sided, all-foam, four-layer mattress. Here is a look at each layer of the bed, starting from the bottom to the top.
- High-Density Base Foam – the bed’s foundation layer that provides support.
- AirFlow Foam – layer that acts as a transition to soften up the feel of the dense foundation.
- Ventilated Comfort Foam – soft, pressure-relieving layer near the surface of the mattress.
- Cooling Gel-Infused Memory Foam – the proper comfort layer of the bed, infused with gel to help with temperature regulation.
The Sunkiss mattress comes with a soft cotton, hypoallergenic cover. More importantly, the cover is removable and machine-washable. This is something rarely seen in the online mattress industry, so having the ability to easily unzip the cover and throw it in the wash is a huge plus for us.
The SweetNight Sunkiss Feels Like
The Sunkiss is SweetNight’s most popular all-foam mattress. The gel-infused memory foam is cloud-like, mimicking the traditional foam feel. The softer side of the Sunkiss is similar to the Breeze, and the firmer side is as firm as the Twilight. The Sunkiss’ flippable design gives you the opportunity to try out both.
Sunkiss Firmness Rating
The Sunkiss mattress has two sides of firmness for your preference. We believe that the “soft” side lands around medium, and the “firm” side is around medium-firm on our scale.
Again, firmness is subjective. The softer side might feel firmer to a petite individual whose body is smaller than the frame. The firmer side might feel softer to a heavier-individual. Your body size and weight play a major role in how you perceive a mattress to feel.
The SweetNight Sunkiss mattress is suited for all sleeper types. The double-sided feature allows for ample experimentation.
Side sleepers may prefer the softer side of the Sunkiss mattress, while back and stomach sleepers may prefer the firmer side.
Verdict: SweetNight Sunkiss Review
Similar to the Twilight, the Sunkiss is a great value. The double-sided feature offers you the ability to test out two firmness levels in one mattress—all without breaking the bed. Bottom line, we believe that the Sunkiss is best for small and medium-sized individuals, regardless of sleeper type.
The SweetNight Island
The SweetNight Island is a hybrid mattress that combines the cooling features of the gel-infused memory foam of the Sunkiss mattress with the motion isolation powers of the Twilight mattress. Below is a preview of this layered mattress from bottom to top.
- Individually-Wrapped Pocketed Coils – the primary support structure of the mattress.
- High-Density Base Foam – layer that provides support near the foundation.
- Gel-Infused Memory Foam – the proper comfort layer of the bed.
- AirFlow High-Density Foam – layer that acts as a transition in the bed.
Wrapping the various layers is a comfortable knitted fabric cover. From what we can tell, the cover is not machine washable. This is nothing new in the online mattress industry. We’ve only tested a few beds that actually have covers that are both removable and machine washable, like the SweetNight Sunkiss. All this means is that if your Island mattress happens to get dirty, you’ll just have to spot clean the dirty area with a mild detergent and water.
The SweetNight Island Feels Like
This hybrid mattress comes in two thickness options. Though, regardless of its height, the Island has a classic neutral-foam feel, similar to the Breeze and the Twilight. It’s more responsive and breathable than memory foam, but not as bouncy and durable as latex foam.
Island Firmness Rating
We believe that the Island mattress lands around medium-firm on our scale. It definitely provides ample pressure to keep your body properly supported.
Again, firmness is subjective. Your body size and weight play a major role in how you perceive a mattress to feel.
The Island is best suited for all sleeper types including back, side, stomach, and combo, as well as all body types. SweetNight Island is also ideal for partners who don’t want to disturb the other while sleeping because it’s great at suppressing motion across the bed.
We think just about any sleeper would be satisfied with the Island, whether you weigh 240 lb and sleep on your back, or you’re a 120 lb side sleeper. .
Verdict: SweetNight Island Review
The SweetNight Island, similar to the other available models, is perfect for those working with a limited budget. In addition, we think most people will enjoy the neutral-foam feel it provides, opposed to memory foam mattresses where it can be a toss-up between liking the material or not. The Island is also suitable for those looking for a hybrid mattress and/or have a partner to share the bed because it’s supportive, but also offers ample motion isolation and edge support.
Overview Of SweetNight Customer Policies
Like most bed-in-a-box companies, SweetNight makes it easy for consumers to try their beds. Here’s a quick summary of what you should expect.
Free Shipping – SweetNight beds ships for free. The mattresses arrive compressed and rolled-up in a box about the size of a dorm fridge. Once you see the box has been delivered, simply grab a friend or family member, move it to your room and start unpackaging it. The entire unboxing process should take less than 10 minutes. Just remember, like with most online beds that have been compressed, you should give your new mattress 24-48 hours to fully inflate before sleeping on it.
100 Night Trial Period – After your new mattress has been delivered, you’ll have 100 nights to test it and determine whether you want to keep it. If you do, no further action is necessary. If for some reason you don’t like the bed, you can contact SweetNight customer support and they’ll initiate the return process in order to get you fully refunded.
10 Year Warranty – SweetNight mattresses are backed by a 10 year warranty. This is the standard warranty length in the online mattress industry. We always recommend our readers scan the warranty before making a final decision. You can check out the SweetNight warranty on the company’s website.
Body Size & Weight -We’ve mentioned this subject a few times now throughout this review so we thought it would be a good time to expand. The truth is not all mattresses are suitable for all body types. Generally speaking, beds that are comprised entirely of foam are more ideal for small and average size individuals, while hybrid beds can typically support people of all shapes and sizes.
This is due to the fact that coil foundations provide more support than foam foundations. Coils compress yet also push-back against pressure. This is known as bi-directional support and it’s a key factor for people who weigh more than ~225 pounds. Since heavier folks exert more force on beds compared to smaller size people, support becomes even more important.
Thus, in the context of this review, we’d recommend the Twilight mattress over the Breeze mattress for heavy set individuals since that particular model utilizes pocketed coils for its support structure.
Motion Isolation – This topic is more relevant to individuals who share their mattress with a significant other or pet. The term motion isolation refers to a how well a bed is able to suppress movement from one side of the bed to the other. A bed that deadens movement well likely means you won’t be disturbed every time your partner rolls over or gets up to use the restroom. The two SweetNight mattresses we tested performed well in this category. We don’t envision couples having any serious issues with the beds.
Edge Support – Like the topic above, edge support is another important consideration for couples. As its title suggests, this term refers to how well the edges of the bed hold up against pressure. The last thing a sleeper needs as they approach the perimeter of the mattress is to feel as if they might roll right off. The SweetNight mattresses perform good but not great in this department. We’ve tested mattresses before that provide better edge support, but at the end of the day, we don’t think couples will have issues spreading out and finding their own space near the edges.
SweetNight is a budget-tier mattress brand. Their beds range anywhere from $300-700.
Despite using memory foam for their comfort layers, we’ve found SweetNight beds have more of a mixed or neutral-foam feel overall.
SweetNight offers five different mattresses. Their most popular beds are the Breeze (cooling foam bed) and Twilight (affordable hybrid bed).
The firmness level of SweetNight beds range depending on which model you select.
