If you’ve ever shopped for a mattress, you’ve probably heard of Sealy. It’s one of the oldest and best-known mattress brands in the country, and its Posturepedic bed is one of its flagship products. In this review, we’re sharing our thoughts on the Sealy Posturepedic Hybrid Kelburn Mattress, a memory foam bed that’s designed for all types of sleepers.
Overall, we think this bed is worth it if you enjoy the feeling of memory foam and you’re comfortable spending a bit more on a brand-name bed. Keep reading our Posturepedic reviews below to find everything you need to know about this bed, including its feel, firmness, and price. How Does the Sealy PosturePedic Bed Feel?
This mattress from Posturepedic has a soft, airy memory foam feel. When you lay down on it, you’ll slowly sink into the material, but it doesn’t hug you too much, so it’s not overwhelming. Rather than contouring around you, it creates a gentle dip where your body lies.
Firmness

The Hybrid Kelburn is about a medium on the soft-to-firm scale. As is typical of memory foam, it has slow responsiveness, but the coils help balance it out so that you don’t ever feel “stuck in the mud” the way you might with Zinus, for example.
Keep in mind that firmness is relative, though. The more you weigh, the more you’ll sink into a bed and the softer it will feel. On the reverse side, the lighter you are, the more you’ll lay on top of a mattress, and the firmer it will feel. You should take this into account for your sleeper type, as well.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief is an important factor for many people, including side sleepers and those suffering from hip pain or arthritis pain. The Sealy Posturepedic mattress scores well in this category, thanks to its top layer of memory foam.
Temperature
We’d say this mattress sleeps more temperature neutral. How hot or cold you sleep on this bed will probably have more to do with external factors, like what you keep your AC set to, what type of sheets you’re sleeping with, and your body weight.
Sealy PosturePedic Mattress Construction
Like the name states, Sealy Posturepedic Hybrid Kelburn is a hybrid mattress made with coils and foam. These layers stack up to make a durable 12” mattress accommodating for all body types. Let’s break down its construction, though, layer by layer:

- Base layer – A foundation of zone support coils; in the center of the mattress, there are 20% more coils for support, and then the edges have more spread out coils
- Transition layer – The center layer of this mattress is a layer of softer foam to neutralize the firm feel of the coils
- Comfort layer – A layer of pressure-relieving memory foam, which is what gives this bed its memory foam feel
All of Sealy’s beds are designed and built in the United States. Also, all of the foams used in the mattress are CertiPUR-US certified, which means (in essence) that the mattress is safe to sleep on and was not made with certain harsh chemicals or metals.
Sealy Mattress Cover
We really like the cover of this bed. It’s made with a “MoistureProtect” fabric that’s supposed to draw moisture away from the body in order for you to stay most comfortable. We can’t speak fully on that because we don’t have a method to measure moisture levels, but we can say we really like the grey and black design and how soft it is. We think the cover gives this mattress a top-tier, premium look.

This cover isn’t removable, so if you happen to spill anything or have any mistakes, just mix some mild soap with warm water and spot treat it.
Durability
Since the Sealy hybrid contains a layer of pocketed coils, this bed should be more durable and last longer than all-foam types. Coils are better at handling weight than foam, which is why we recommend hybrid mattresses for heavier folks (more on that later).
Body Type Analysis
Keep in mind, your weight could change your perception of the mattress firmness. As you could imagine, a mattress will feel different to a petite woman who weighs 100 lbs versus a 6’3 athlete who weighs 230 lbs.
Sleeper Type Analysis
This Sealy Posturepedic mattress has a neutral mattress firmness that we think accommodates most sleeper positions including back, side, stomach, and combination.

Is Sealy Posturepedic Mattress Good For Couples?
If you’re looking for a mattress for couples, you might like Sealy PosturePedic Hybrid Kelburn for a couple of reasons. This includes its ample edge support and motion isolation.
Edge Support
If you and your partner like to spread out on your mattress at night, go for a king size. The edge support isn’t bad, but it’s not on par with Beautyrest Black or Stearns & Foster Addison Grace. Though, it’s definitely not a dealbreaker with this bed.

Motion Isolation and Noise
The motion isolating capabilities of this bed are quite good, as is the case with most memory foam beds. This is particularly helpful to light sleepers who don’t want to wake up along with their partner.
Sealy Posturepedic Pricing
The Sealy hybrid is definitely not a cheap mattress, but it’s not expensive either. It’s in between, and all things considered, we think it’s a nice value.
Size | Price (MSRP) |
---|---|
Twin XL | $1,574 |
Full | $1,579 |
Queen | $1,599 |
King / Cal King | $2,099 |
Does Posturepedic Offer Discounts?
The one thing with Sealy Posturepedic products is that coupons are scarce since the mattresses themselves are sold through retailers, but the pricing is oftentimes controlled by Sealy. Retailers will offer promotions—such as a free Visa gift card or gadget—but you almost never will find a proper coupon code. You can check US-Mattress.com to see current deals and offers.
Sealy Posturepedic Mattress Verdict
The Hybrid Kelburn Mattress from Posturepedic is a really nice bed with a comfortable memory foam feel. It’s accommodating of any sleeper type and any body type thanks to its middle-of-the-road firmness level and hybrid construction. We also like that it doesn’t heat up as other memory foam beds do and that it has a nice premium look. Overall, if you’re in the market for a memory foam mattress, we think it’s hard to go wrong with this one unless you’re a heavy back and stomach sleeper looking for a more firm mattress.
