GhostBed Luxe Review
GhostBed from Nature’s Sleep has garnered a reputable name in the online mattress industry and has three different beds in their lineup. As the name suggests, GhostBed Luxe is a top-tier level mattress, and while it’s more expensive than the original GhostBed, GhostBed Luxe offers several extra features including a special cooling cover and Ghost Ice layer, making it worth the money for many individuals. Especially if you tend to warm up during the middle of the night.
If you’re a memory foam lover looking for some relief from the heat between your sheets at night, continue on below for a full-length GhostBed Luxe review! Hint: The GhostBed Luxe made our list of the Best Memory Foam Mattresses.
If you’re more of an auditory learner or you just aren’t in the mood to read about mattresses, listen to Owen talk about our thoughts on the GhostBed Luxe Mattress!
GhostBed Luxe Mattress Construction
GhostBed Luxe has three layers of foam, plus a cooling cover, which all adds up to make a 13” thick mattress. The typical online bed, for comparison purposes, is only about 10″ thick.

- Bottom layer – The core of the GhostBed mattress is a 7.5″ layer of high density support foam
- Middle layer – This layer is a 2″ layer of proprietary foam that GhostBed calls the “Ghost Bounce Layer,” and it’s like a mix between memory foam and latex foam
- Top layer – a secondary middle layer is made up of 2″ of gel memory foam that includes a phase-change material called the “Ghost Ice Layer” which works to dissipate heat
- Cover – The cover isn’t technically a layer, but with 1″ of gel memory foam and 1/2″ of cooling fiber in the fabric we think it qualifies as a separate layer

Part of mattress care is doing what you can to ensure that your bed has a good long life. For some mattresses, that means flipping and rotating it once in a while. In GhostBed Luxe’s case, no flipping is necessary because it has a top-to-bottom construction. You should rotate it every 3-6 months, though, to ensure even wear.
GhostBed Luxe Feel And Firmness
As you might expect given the top comfort layers of the bed, the GhostBed Luxe has a memory foam feel. As you lay down, you can sort of feel the comfort layers start to conform to the shape of your body. With that said, the memory foam sensation is still not quite as distinct as say Nectar or Layla. Nevertheless, we found the bed to be quite comfortable.
In regards to firmness, we think the GhostBed Luxe lands somewhere in the medium range on the scale. In other words, the bed is not strikingly firm or remarkably soft.

However, true to memory foam stereotypes, GhostBed Luxe softens when pressure and heat are applied. As such, it will feel firmer from the start but will soften after just a few seconds of laying on the mattress. We’ve seen the same thing with plenty of memory foam beds. You can even see in the video below that it remembers its shape, but will compress to allow for pressure relief.
This is just a hallmark of memory foam. Some people like the “sink in” feeling, and others don’t. From our independent research, it seems like close to 90% of people are fine with memory foam, so we don’t imagine that this is an issue, as long as you know what to expect.
What Does GhostBed Luxe Feel Like?
Temperature
This is actually one of the few mattresses that we’d say sleeps fairly cool. Now, GhostBed claims the Luxe is the “coolest bed in the world,” but we’re not going quite so far as to endorse that claim. We do think it’s a cool sleeping bed and that folks who tend to sleep hot will appreciate the airflow and cooling technology that comes with this bed.
Sleeper Type Analysis
Given the GhostBed Luxe mattress tows the line between soft/comfort and firm/support, we think the bed is a good option for all types of sleepers. It doesn’t matter whether you spend the majority of the night on your side, back or stomach.
Body Type Analysis
Considerations For Couples
We do think this is a good mattress for couples. GhostBed Luxe has good motion isolation and great edge support, which are both important factors for those sharing a bed.
Motion isolation
Couples want to think about motion isolation particularly if one partner is an active sleeper or one is a sensitive sleeper. Good motion isolation means the mattress does a good job of deadening cross-bed motion, so that one person won’t wake the other by tossing and turning or getting up in the middle of the night.
Edge Support
Edge support comes into play when couples share a smaller sized bed, like a full or a queen. Often, one partner ends up hugging the edge of the bed while the other sleeps happy spread out in the middle. Because GhostBed Luxe has great edge support, though, at least the outlier won’t feel like they’re rolling off the bed due to sloping mattress sides. Learn more about edge support at our blog.
GhostBed Luxe Price And Coupon Code
I think we all know that mattresses can be expensive, which makes sense since a bed is a long-term purchase that you’re going to use quite literally every night. That being said, budgets are still a reality and most folks aren’t looking to break the bank on a bed. Relative to the rest of the online mattress shopping industry, the GhostBed Luxe price point is slightly above average. You can see a breakdown of pricing in the table below.
Size | Price (MSRP) |
---|---|
Twin | $1,845 |
Twin XL | $1,995 |
Full | $2,125 |
Queen | $2,320 |
King | $2,620 |
California King | $2,640 |
Our Slumber Yard team is committed to not only helping you choose the right bed, but helping you get the best price, as well. GhostBed Luxe Review Verdict
There’s a lot to like about this GhostBed Mattress – it has a comfortable memory foam feel, it accommodates a variety of sleeping positions and it has a thicker, more robust design compared to most all-foam beds on the market. Really though, what makes the GhostBed Luxe unique is the fact that it’s one of the few cooling memory foam mattresses available on the internet. Bottom line, if you want a memory foam bed, but you also happen to sleep on the warmer side, we’d strongly urge you to consider the GhostBed Luxe.
GhostBed Luxe Ratings
- Amazon Reviews: Amazon reviews give the GhostBed Luxe mattress 3.6 out of 5 stars. Many positive commenters mentioned the cooling ability of the mattress. Interestingly there were several comments calling the mattress too hard, but others calling it too soft. Which goes to show how important it is to consider your body type when choosing a mattress.

GhostBed Company Policies
If you’re buying your next mattress online, you should know what kind of policies are standard for the industry. Here are the basics:
- free shipping and free returns
- a 100-night risk-free trial period
- a 10-year warranty
Just a note, a lot of bed-in-a-box mattresses have an odd smell to them when they’re first unpacked. This is called “off-gassing” and it’s the release of the odors that were trapped inside the vacuum-sealed plastic. They aren’t harmful, but it can be quite unpleasant. Don’t worry, though, it should dissipate within a couple days.

Yes. It is a cooling gel memory foam mattress that features a cool-to-the-touch cover.
It has an accommodating memory foam feel.
The most obvious (somewhat) comparable bed is the GhostBed Flex. Aside from that, there are other cooling beds such as Brooklyn Bedding Aurora that might be of interest to you. If you look past the cooling features, however, there are some memory foam beds that have a similar dense feel. TempurPedic comes to mind first, but there are others as well.
GhostBed mattresses are manufactured by Nature’s Sleep in the USA.
Yes, GhostBed sells two other mattresses, an adjustable bed frame, mattress foundation, pillow, mattress protector, and sheets.
The company sells about a dozen other mattresses as well as other bedding products. The company was founded by the family who started the Werner Ladder Company.
As of now, it is only available online through GhostBed’s website and Amazon. There really is no need to test it at a mattress store because inside the return window you can just ask for a refund. That’s the beauty of these online mattress brands.
Nature’s Sleep sent us this mattress so that we could review it. They don’t have any say in our review of their products, though. All of our opinions are entirely our own, every time.
